seeking public comments on draft standards
for health-care providers who treat injured
workers. The new standards are the first step
in creating a statewide network of providers
to treat people with work-related injuries and
illnesses.

The injured employee selects an initial treating provider who must be qualified
according to the state guidelines. The injured employee may request a change of
treating provider in writing during the course of treatment, but the request must
be approved by the employer or the Department of Labor and Industries. The
employee may select his/her own pharmacy or select a pharmacy from the
Express Scripts pharmacy network. Emergency medical care does not require
preapproval and should be secured at the nearest location
