Division of Workers’ Compensation posts order determining that changes to billing
requirements for pharmacies billing the Medi-Cal program are inapplicable to
workers' compensation claims

The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has posted an order determining that
changes made by section 39 of Assembly Bill X 4 5, to the billing requirements of
pharmacies when billing the Medi-Cal program are inapplicable to workers'
compensation claims. This statute, a budget trailer bill, added a new section
14105.455 to the Welfare and Institutions Code, which requires that when pharmacy
providers bill the Medi-Cal program, they submit certain defined charges.

The administrative director has determined pursuant to Labor Code section 5307.1
that the changes made by this statute are not a relevant change in the Medi-Cal
payment system.
