For the rest of October, the calls of former arbitrators will be handled as follows:
Also, Arbitrators Jutila and Neal are out on medical leave. Arb. Jutila's call will be handled by Arb. Williams; various arbitrators will cover for
Arb. Neal.
All tried-but-undecided cases will be redistributed soon among arbitrators. Partially tried cases will also be reassigned among arbitrators. The
Commission will prepare and pay for a transcript. If parties want a new trial, they can present a motion immediately to the newly assigned
arbitrator, who will determine if sufficient cause exists to grant a new trial.
There will be no pro se arbitrator during October. Please send settlement contracts to the assigned or covering arbitrator.
Finally, please be aware that we are in the process of consolidating 24 arbitrator territories to 17, reassigning 85,000 cases among the newly
appointed arbitrators, and switching our continuance schedule from two months to three months. It is an enormous undertaking, and we are doing
this with a 30-year-old mainframe system. We are doing everything we can to make this a smooth transition, but please expect some bumps in
the road. Check this website frequently for announcements regarding changes in calls or trials. We will appreciate your understanding and
